About the Dog Park
Leesburg Dog Park, located at 9745 Silver Lake Dr, Leesburg, FL 34788, is a spacious and well-maintained area where dogs can run freely and socialize. The park offers separate sections for small and large dogs, ensuring a safe environment for pets of all sizes. With plenty of room to run, chairs for pet owners, and a water station, it’s an ideal spot for dogs to play and owners to relax. Although it lacks shade, the park remains a popular destination, especially during cooler hours.
Fencing
- Secure Perimeter: The park is fully fenced, providing a secure environment where dogs can run off-leash without the risk of escaping. The fencing is sturdy and well-maintained, ensuring that even the most energetic dogs remain safely within the park’s boundaries.
- Separate Areas: Leesburg Dog Park is divided into two sections: one for small dogs and one for large dogs. This separation reduces the risk of accidents and allows dogs to play with others of similar size, promoting a safer and more enjoyable experience.
- Gated Entrances: The park features double-gated entry points, which help prevent dogs from slipping out when other visitors enter or leave. This design adds an extra layer of security, especially during busy times.
Distractions
- Airplane Flyovers: One unique aspect of the park is its location under the flight path of Leesburg International Airport. While some dogs may find the sound of airplanes distracting, many enjoy the experience, and it’s a conversation starter for the owners.
- Limited Shade: The park has minimal shade, which can be a distraction for dogs and owners alike, especially during the hot midday hours. Visitors often bring their own umbrellas or portable shade structures to stay cool.
- Socialization Opportunities: With plenty of friendly dogs and owners, the park provides excellent socialization opportunities. Dogs can meet new friends, and owners can enjoy conversations with fellow pet lovers.
Amenities
- Seating Areas: The park provides chairs and covered seating areas for owners to relax while their dogs play. This is especially useful during longer visits or when the park is busy.
- Water Station: A water station is available, although some visitors have noted that the water can taste slightly chlorinated. It’s recommended to bring your own water for your dog, especially on hot days.
- Dog Toys: Many visitors bring toys like balls and frisbees, and there are often spare toys left behind for others to use. This adds to the fun and keeps dogs entertained.
- Parking: The park has ample parking, including space for RVs, making it convenient for visitors from out of town or those planning an extended stay.
Pricing
- Free Access: Leesburg Dog Park is free to the public, making it an affordable option for dog owners looking for a safe and enjoyable place for their pets to play.
Cleanliness
- Well-Maintained Grounds: The park is consistently praised for its cleanliness. Visitors regularly pick up after their pets, and the park provides waste bags to help maintain the area.
- Trash Bins: Multiple trash bins are strategically placed throughout the park, making it easy for owners to dispose of waste promptly. This contributes to the overall cleanliness of the park.
Hazards
- Limited Shade: The lack of shade can be a hazard during hot weather, as dogs can easily overheat. Visitors are advised to come during cooler times of the day, such as early morning or late evening, to avoid the heat.
- Digging Holes: Some areas of the park have become popular spots for dogs to dig. While this can be fun for the dogs, it’s important for owners to watch their step to avoid tripping.
- Airplane Noise: The noise from airplanes taking off and landing at the nearby airport can be startling to some dogs, particularly those sensitive to loud sounds.
Extras Rules and Community Safety Rules
- Pet Etiquette: Owners are encouraged to monitor their dogs at all times to ensure they are behaving appropriately with other dogs. The park community values respectful and responsible pet ownership.
- Vaccination and Health: All dogs should be up-to-date on vaccinations before visiting the park. This helps prevent the spread of diseases and keeps all dogs safe.
- Waste Disposal: Owners are expected to pick up after their dogs to maintain the park’s cleanliness. The provided waste bags and trash bins make this task easy and convenient.
- Supervision: Dogs must be supervised by their owners at all times. This rule ensures that dogs interact safely and that any potential issues are quickly addressed.

6 years agoNice space. Gets really hot middle of the day and there is not a lot of shade. Best to come during edges of the day, morning or evening. Plenty of room. The dogs love it! I enjoyed it. Airplanes fly right over head taking off from Leesburg International Airport. Water can taste a bit chlorine like, so might be best to bring your own water.
