About the Dog Park
OPEN Space Offleash Dog Area, located at 11701-12731 W 100th Ave, Westminster, CO 80005, offers a vast open area where dogs can run free and explore diverse trails. Despite its popularity leading to limited parking, the park’s scenic views and ample space make it a favorite for off-leash adventures. Visitors appreciate the dog-friendly environment, though amenities like trash cans are only available at entrances.
Fencing
- The park is not completely fenced in, which is unlike many traditional dog parks.
- Due to the lack of fencing, dogs need to have good recall and be under control, especially since the park is adjacent to a main road.
- This open setting provides a more natural environment but requires vigilance from dog owners.
Distractions
- The area is shared by cyclists, adding a dynamic element to the environment.
- Wildlife, including hawks, rabbits, and occasionally rattlesnakes, can be found, which might distract dogs.
- Rabbit holes and red ants are common, presenting both a distraction and a potential hazard.
Amenities
- Portable restrooms are available for human visitors.
- Poop bags and trash cans are provided at the park’s entrances, but not along the trails.
- Water is available, but visitors are advised to bring their own for both themselves and their dogs.
- The park offers wide trails suitable for walking, running, or biking with your dog.
Pricing
- The park is free to use, making it an accessible option for all dog owners.
Cleanliness
- The park is generally well-maintained, with visitors frequently picking up after their dogs.
- The main paths are kept clear, but due to the natural setting, expect some dirt and occasional muddy areas, especially after snow melts.
Hazards
- The presence of rattlesnakes, especially during certain seasons, poses a risk.
- The lack of fencing near the main road is a significant hazard for dogs with poor recall.
- Rabbit holes and red ant hills can be a tripping hazard for both dogs and their owners.
Extras Rules
- The park operates on a “pack it in, pack it out” principle, emphasizing personal responsibility for waste disposal.
- Dogs must be well-behaved and under control at all times, given the open and unfenced environment.
- During snowy conditions, trails are not maintained, so prepare for walking in snow, ice, or mud.
Community Safety Rules
- Dogs should be friendly and sociable as the park is frequently visited by many dogs of different sizes.
- Dog owners are encouraged to practice good recall with their dogs to ensure safety.
- Visitors are advised to be cautious and respectful of other park users, including cyclists and wildlife enthusiasts.

6 months agoNothing fancy, just a huge open area to let the dogs run free. Lots of different paths with several extra wide main routes. Nice views for you and limitless exploration for the dogs, but not a lot of diversity of biome and the parking lot could be bigger given the popularity of the spot - I've definitely tried to go on the weekend and turned around after finding a line of cars waiting to park, and it took me 25 minutes to drive there in the first place.

2 years agoHighly recommend if you have a dog that is great off leash and friendly with other dogs! Lots of walking paths plus poop bags and trash cans at the entrances. And the views is stellar. Note that it is not completely fenced in like a normal dog park and it's right off a main road so if your dog does not listen well I would keep them on leash. When it snows however there is no trail maintenance done so expect to be walking in snow, ice or even mud as it melts. There are two parking lots also which are pretty large. Weekends are more crowded so you might have to park on the street. Again highly recommend!

3 years agoBeautiful open space with dirt trails to follow throughout. Can run/walk/bike with your pup on or off leash. Porta potties, water, poop bags, and trash cans available. Great spot to practice recall.

a month agoThey've reconfigured the parking lot so it's not as easy to get to the park coming off the toll road. Love the open space.

7 months agoOne of the few places you can let a dog really run off leash. I took my mountain bike and everyone was very friendly. Wide trails, good views.
