Fencing
- Secure Enclosures: The park is divided into two securely fenced areas—one for large dogs and another for smaller breeds, ensuring that dogs can play safely with others of similar size.
- Multiple Gates: Double-gated entry points add an extra layer of security, preventing dogs from escaping as new visitors enter or exit the park.
- Maintenance: The fencing is regularly checked and well-maintained, with no visible gaps or issues reported by visitors, which enhances safety.
Distractions
- Natural Terrain: The park’s varied terrain, including grass, sand, wood chips, and shrubbery, provides plenty of natural distractions that keep dogs engaged and entertained.
- Interactive Features: Obstacles, balls, and pools within the park add to the fun, allowing dogs to run, jump, and play to their heart’s content.
- Other Dogs: The park is often busy, especially on weekends, which means your dog will have plenty of opportunities to socialize with other pets. However, some dog fights have been reported, so supervision is advised.
Amenities

- Drinking Fountains: Dog drinking fountains are strategically placed throughout the park, ensuring that your pet stays hydrated, even on hot days.

Cleanliness
- Regular Maintenance: The park is generally clean and well-maintained, with frequent landscaping efforts to remove dead trees and dense foliage.
- Waste Disposal: While there are only two trash cans, the park provides doggie bags, encouraging owners to clean up after their pets and maintain the park’s cleanliness.
- Mud Control: Thanks to pebble drainage systems around the water bowls, muddy areas are minimal, keeping dogs cleaner during their visit.
Hazards
- Potential Dog Fights: Like any dog park, there is a risk of altercations between dogs. One such incident was reported, but it was quickly resolved by the pet owner.
- Bushes and Shrubs: Some shrubbery, while beautiful, may obstruct visibility, making it harder to keep an eye on your dog at all times.
- Limited Trash Cans: With only two trash cans available, waste disposal could be a challenge during busier times.
Extras
- Dog Pools: The dog pools are a standout feature, offering a unique way for dogs to cool off and enjoy their time at the park.
- Trails and Additional Park Features: Beyond the dog park, Wickham Park offers trails, disc golf, playgrounds, and scenic ponds, making it a destination for the entire family.

2 months agoCame to the dog park while staying in the campground. There are 2 sides small-(under 25 lbs) and large. The small side is in much better shape than the large side for sure. The large side had standing water right by the gate and lots of wood chips. It looks like a small pond forms toward the back when it rains as well. Both sides do provide dog waste bags, water, pools and benches/chairs. The large side did have a lot what looked like brand-new tennis balls for the dogs to play with as well. The large side could us some attention, like fill in some of the lower areas.

6 months agoNicely maintained dog park, big and small. Plenty of running water available for those hot days including two washing stations. There always seems to be a few dogs in the big dog side every time I visit. They recently cleared some of the obstructive bushes.

2 months agoI love the Wickham Park dog park, until someone brings a big dog into the small dog side without asking or caring what the sign says. Or is there with a big dog in the small dog side, as you pull in. Some people like to fight instead of going to the correct side and the park Rangers don't have them go to the correct side or leave. They don't understand that big dogs can easily hurt little dogs or worse. My family and I have been taking our little dogs to their park for 16+ years now, and this has happened multiple times. For example just last week there was a couple with a full grown golden retriever in the little dogs side, so I nicely let them know they were on the wrong side and we wanted to use it. They said that their dog was 8 months old and under 25 pounds, friendly and trust that. So I called the Rangers and that's what they told them too. The Rangers answer was the same thing to us and they didn't have a scale to measure the dog (what the Ranger said), so nothing could be done, but us trust that their dog would not hurt ours. After the Ranger left, another couple wanted to go in with their 2 chihuahuas but wouldn't either. The big dog owners didn't like us talking to each other and threatened to punch me and my Dad, so the Ranger was called back along with cops, and the big dog owners took off before the cops got there. But I did get the license plate picture of the big dog owners and gave it to the Ranger along with some of our information. I don't know what happened after that but luckily I haven't seen them again.
Monty the Dalmatian
3 years agoMonty thoroughly enjoyed Wickham Dog Park! The area for big dogs is huge (there is a small dog side too), with dog drinking foundations, a wash tub with a hose, and different terrain like grass, sand, and wood chips. Monty loved diving into the huge, bushy palms (which are gorgeous, but they do obstruct your view of some of the dog park, if that bothers you). There’s a large tree for shade and tons of chairs and benches. We were the only ones in the park around 3pm on a Wednesday but about ten more dogs showed up over the following hour. A dog fight between a couple dogs did break out while we were there (unfortunately it happens sometimes at dog parks), but the owner of the offending dog quickly apologized and removed him from the park. Some more trash cans would be nice - there are two - but clean up bags are provided.

2 months agoThe park is nice but on September 1st some staff locked me in the park and knew I was in there and drove away. Having to jump the fence to put two of my dogs in the truck made the day amazing. I have comments I wish I could say, but all I will say is I was pretty heated at that person
