About the Dog Park
Southern Highlands Dog Park, located at 10500 S Jones Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89141, is a popular destination for dog owners in the area. This dog park boasts lush grass, ample shade, and a well-manicured environment, making it an attractive spot for dogs to run and play. The park is divided into two main areas: one for small dogs and one for medium to large dogs. Despite some logistical challenges such as parking and water availability, it remains a favorite among many local dog owners.
Fencing
- The park has designated areas for small dogs (up to 25 lbs) and a larger area for medium and large dogs.
- Despite the labels for small, medium, and large, there are effectively only two fenced areas: one small and one large.
Distractions
- The park is located at a corner with a traffic light, so there is some traffic noise which can serve as a good distraction for training purposes.
Amenities
- Well-manicured grass
- Plenty of shade trees
- Clean and spacious areas
Pricing
- The park is free and open to the public, not just residents of Southern Highlands.
Cleanliness
- Generally clean and well-maintained.
- Some users report occasional mud and mud puddles in the larger dog area.
Hazards
- No dedicated parking lot; visitors often park on a gravel-covered hill across the street.
- Some concerns about aggressive dogs and lack of owner awareness regarding canine body language and attack procedures.
- Crossing the street to the park can be dangerous due to traffic.
Extras
- No lights in the park, making it difficult to use during dark hours.
- Street lighting around the park is inadequate, adding to safety concerns.
Rules
- It’s important for dog owners to understand canine body language and proper off-leash area etiquette.
- The park’s users are generally friendly and responsible.
Community Safety
- The park is frequented by friendly and well-behaved dogs and owners.
- Visitors should remain vigilant about their dogs’ interactions and any potential hazards, especially when it comes to parking and crossing the street.
Southern Highlands Dog Park, despite its few downsides, offers a pleasant and engaging environment for dogs and their owners. With a bit of preparation and caution, it can be a great place for dogs to play and socialize.

a year agoPros- Grass!!!, lots of shade, manicured well, two dog areas so tiny dogs can be in their own area. Cons-NO Parking---Zero....NONE...also no water....which is terrible in the heat so pack a bag with some water before you walk here.

4 years agoMy dog loves this park, so let me explain the 3 stars. There’s 3 labeled areas (small, medium, large), but it’s really one small park (for small dogs, max 25 lbs) and one large park (for both medium and large dogs). Mislabeling = 1 star down. Then there is always mud and mud puddles on the big side, so we’re forced to use the small dog side (luckily my pup is still a pup)... Ironically, the water fountain outside both areas doesn’t work and hasn’t worked for several months. Water situation = another star down. But the biggest plus is there is lots of shade, so we can go anytime of the day, though we avoid peak time in the summer, so I’d like to give it 5 stars just for that. Then I remember that there’s no formal parking lot even though the park is open to all visitors, not just residents of Southern Highlands, and I don’t feel so bad about a solid 3 star rating. Hope they get the few issues fixed and I would be glad to update the rating to reflect. btw, the dogs that come here are agreeable, so don’t let this photo fool you. I just think it’s a well-timed, funny photo!

6 years agoThis is a nice big and clean dog park with enough room for our energetic Aussie to run. There were also some shade trees. We parked on the gravel covered hill across the street. The dogs were mostly nice, but a gentleman came in saying him and his dog were attacked there the day prior. It's important for everyone to know canine body language and attack procedures before going to off leash areas. Beautiful spot, would possibly return.
