About the Dog Park
Located at 530 S, American Fork, UT 84003, the American Fork Dog Park is widely regarded as the best dog park in Utah County. It offers a spacious, well-maintained environment that caters to both large and small dogs, making it a popular destination for local dog owners.
Fencing
- Complete Fencing: The park is entirely fenced with separate fenced sections for small and large dogs, ensuring safety and security.
- Gateway System: A good gateway system is in place to prevent dogs from escaping when new dogs enter.
Distractions
- Adjacent Facilities: Next to the dog areas, there is a pickleball court, restrooms, a playground, a track, and an open field.
- Agility Elements: The park includes dog training/agility elements for additional fun and exercise.
Amenities
- Water Availability: A community water dish next to a spigot is available; however, water is turned off during winter months, so visitors should bring their own water.
- Seating: Limited seating with only one bench on each side, which can be inconvenient during busy times.
- Shade: There is a lack of shade in the park, so visitors should be prepared for sun exposure.
- Doggy Bags and Trash Cans: Poop bag dispensers and trash cans are available, but sometimes not restocked.

Cleanliness
- General Cleanliness: The park is generally clean, but some visitors have noted that not all dog owners clean up after their pets.
- Surface Maintenance: Regular maintenance with wood chips and gravel helps manage cleanliness, but sand can be an issue as it is very fine and can get into shoes.
Hazards
- Water Off in Winter: Water spigots are turned off during the winter to prevent pipes from bursting, so visitors need to bring water during this season.
- Limited Shade and Seating: Lack of shade and limited seating can be a concern, especially in hot weather.
- Small Dogs with Large Dogs: Although the park is divided, smaller dogs sometimes play in the larger dog area, which can lead to minor accidents.
Extras Rules
- Dog Size Separation: Strict separation between dogs under 25 pounds and those over 25 pounds.
- Leash Requirements: Dogs must be leashed when entering and exiting the park.
- Owner Responsibility: Owners are responsible for their dogs and must clean up after them.
- Aggressive Dogs: Aggressive behavior is not tolerated and must be managed by the owner immediately.
Community Safety Rules
- Supervision: Owners must supervise their dogs at all times and intervene if necessary.
- Friendly Environment: The community is generally friendly and courteous, creating a positive atmosphere for both dogs and owners.
- Busy Times: Visitors should be aware of peak times as the park can get crowded, which may not be suitable for all dogs.
American Fork Dog Park is an excellent place for dog socialization and exercise. Despite minor issues like limited seating and occasional cleanliness problems, it remains a top choice for dog owners in Utah County due to its spacious layout, separate areas for different dog sizes, and friendly community.

2 months agoDOG PARENTS BEWARE. Took my dog here to throw a ball because the photos show grass. It is 100% gravel, not sand but tiny sharp gravel. Within about 15 minutes we noticed she was limping, she was bleeding because her paws shredded running on the gravel. Photos are after being deep cleaned at home, but she was a bloody gravel mess at this park. We spoke with a nearby pet supply store while buying banadages for her feet and they told us this happens all the time. They've been petitioning the city to remove the gravel and replace with grass, they just won't do it. This park is a legitimate hazard and they are fully aware. Unacceptable.

2 years agoThere's no water for the dogs, no shade for humans, one bench to sit on and the stench of dog urine is so strong we left after only 15 minutes. The entire place is just dirt, no grass. So the dog urine is crystallizing, leaving the stench of a giant litter box I guess? There is a water pump but it is not turned on or broken. However the people and dogs who were there, is why I gave it 3 stars. Everyone was respectful and friendly and cleaned up after their dogs. The lack of shade is a huge issue since there was only one bench, leaving us to all stand around in sun and it's only March! Can't imagine how dreadfully awful it is in the summer! The smell would also be much worse in the heat!

a year agoBest dog park in Utah County. I've been to 3-4 others, and this is far and away the best, most active dog park in the area. It has 2 sides, one for large dogs, and one for small dogs, which I really like as I worry my little guys could get hurt by a big dog it they got aggressive. We've only been there one time when there wasn't other small dogs there for our guys to play with, so it's pretty active and fun for them. Plenty of space for them to play fetch and run around with their doggy friends.

3 years agoThere are two sections. Each one is half sand and half grass. There are is one bench in each half. There are new trees that will eventually provide some shade. There is no water. There are doggy drinking fountains but they are not yet turned on. There is no walkway in the park and it isn't very big. It is surrounded by a four foot fence. It's the only one in the area. If you want a better one, go to draper. If you want someplace close in the evening, it's ok. Update... The grass is dead. Looks like the sprinklers are broken...

4 years agoI love that this park is sand! Some other dog parks are gravel and I'm not a fan, because I feel like it can be hard on dogs' feet when they run around! It's separated into two sections, 25lbs and under, then 26lbs and over, and both sections are huge! My dog is insane and has a lot of energy, so it's been great to have a place close to home he can run around. We live in an apartment, so we don't have a yard, but this is the next best thing.
