About the Dog Park

Clark Park Dog Park, located at 1724-1798 S McKemy St, Tempe, AZ 85281, is a charming, well-maintained spot for dogs to play, nestled within a neighborhood just off Broadway. Despite some concerns with safety and cleanliness, the park offers a grassy, fenced area with ample seating and amenities for dogs and their owners.

Fencing

  • The park features a fully fenced area, providing a safe space for dogs to run and play off-leash.
  • The fencing ensures dogs are contained, preventing them from wandering off into potentially hazardous areas.

Distractions

  • While the park itself is clean, the surrounding area can be distracting due to the presence of homelessness and scattered chicken bones.
  • These distractions necessitate keeping dogs on a short leash until they reach the designated dog area.

Amenities

  • Dog Area: Grassy with plenty of shade from tall trees, two picnic tables, and benches near the entrance.
  • Playground: Equipped with a mesh shade, swings, a slide, monkey bars, and other standard amenities.
  • Restrooms: Available for both men and women, with drinking fountains.
  • Dog Water Fountain: A freshwater cooler specifically for dogs.

Cleanliness

  • The park is generally well-maintained with a clean dog area.
  • “Poop bag” dispensers are well-stocked and distributed throughout the park.
  • Regular mowing keeps the grassy area neat.

Hazards

  • The presence of chicken bones and occasionally used needles in the vicinity poses a hazard for dogs.
  • Visitors should remain vigilant, especially during evening hours, and consider carrying protection if visiting after dark.

Extras

  • The park does not feature any fancy dog play equipment but provides sufficient space for dogs to run and play.
  • Lights are available, allowing for visits after dark.

Community Safety Rules

  • Owners are advised to keep their dogs on a leash until reaching the designated dog area.
  • Pet owners are responsible for picking up after their dogs and using the provided waste disposal stations.
  • Due to occasional aggressive dogs, owners should supervise interactions closely to ensure a safe environment.

Clark Park Dog Park is a lovely, community-focused space with good amenities and a safe, fenced area for dogs. However, visitors should be aware of the potential hazards and take necessary precautions, especially during late hours. Overall, it remains a favorable spot for dog owners seeking a pleasant outdoor environment for their pets.

This dog park is a quaint spot nestled within the neighborhood, just a couple blocks off Broadway. Overall, the park is well-maintained and provides a decent space for dogs to play. However, there are some things to mention. One noticeable issue is the presence of some sketchiness and homelessness in the vicinity, which unfortunately translates to scattered chicken bones around the area. This poses a concern as we strive to keep our furry companions away from potential hazards. Due to this, and the occasional used needle discarded the same areas, I tend to keep my dog on a short leash until we reach the designated dog area. On that note, if I am wearing flip flops I don't leave the cement. Moreover, as the night progresses, the atmosphere can feel more unsettling. Personally, I take precautionary measures and carry various forms of protection when visiting after dark. Despite these challenges, my experiences at the park have been generally positive thus far. However, it's prudent for visitors to remain vigilant, especially during later hours.

Nice dog area, grassy and lots of seats. It was crowded when I went. There is also a pretty cool looking playground, I think I will go back with my grandkids.

Was told it had a splash pad which unfortunately it didn't. However the dogs did great on their first time there. Still it was a hot day and was trying to cool off

Took my sister's corgi to run and play fetch. She loves this park. We went around mid day. It was a bit hot but bearable. Not a lot of traffic. One dog owner arrived there as well snd both dogs got along well.
